Burn Cottage Moonlight Race Pinot Noir 2020 Central Otago
Burn Cottage owner Marquis Sauvage sounds more like a drag queen than a Kansas-born cattle rancher and grapegrower - go figure! A shrewd operator, he sought the advice of California Pinot Noir royalty Ted Lemon before planting this wonderful variety in a former sheep paddock. Burn Cottage is well-known as the first biodynamic estate in Otago, and Ted stipulated minimal intervention winemaking in return for his advice. Fruit comes from two separate vineyards in Lowburn and Bannockburn, before a year in old oak, producing the bright, juicy style that Otago has become justly famous for.
