El Montanista Criollas Tintas 2021 San Juan Argentina
The slopes of Calingasta Valley are home to a wealth of 'criolla' grape varieties that are descended from vines originally brought to South America on the voyage from Europe in the 16th century. This is a blend of criolla grapes from old vines, hand harvested and fermented in concrete eggs to channel the perfume and purity of organic fruit. The resulting wine has so much energy - bright and bursting with fresh raspberries and blood orange, with a delicious anise and herbal tang reminiscent of red vermouth. As red wines go it's the last word in refreshment and can be enjoyed chilled.
