Originally from Ukraine, Anna Zahorodnya relocated to Barcelona with her parents when she was a teenager. She trained as a sommelier and met her future partner Raimon Col while honing her craft in the buzzy Barcelona culinary scene. Restoring wine making equipment from his family, and buying in fruit, they set out in 2002 to follow a shared vision for making fine, long-aged sparkling wines and intense reserva style still wines from organically cultivated grapes. Ur is a large scale Xarel-lo with light skin contact, bottled unfined and unfiltered. Broad and gastronomic, with the macadamia nuttiness characteristic of Xarello, a spine of salty minerality, and a long spicy finish with a hint of curry leaf reminiscent of Jura.
