Set up in 1992 by Pecina Crespo, formerly the head winemaker at La Rioja Alta, this estate is based in the higher altitude Alavesa subzone which makes more aromatic, nuanced wines. Aged for 48 months in 100% American oak, this is a classic Rioja - all strawberry, woodsmoke, vanilla, coffee bean and caramelised nuts. A steal at this price.
