The historic property of Chateau des Rontets is surrounded by its own organically cultivated vineyards. The quality is impeccable across the range defining a high point in this southern Burgundy appellation, and we consider these wines to have the quality level of much more expensive Meursault or Puligny Montrachet. The Clos, or walled vineyard, of Varambon surrounds the chateau, and this cuvee has a gorgeous aroma of biscuitty orchard fruit, a touch of peach, with a moreish chalky finale and no excessive oakiness. Rich and mouth-filling, it is also refined and delicate.
