Vignoble Guillaume Pinot Noir Collection 2016 Franche Comte

This is Xavier's top wine, a pinot noir of true concentration, dense with black cherry and smoke and made from fruit hand-picked from a single, south-east facing slope, on a bedrock of limestone, a la nearby Burgundy. If this were from Gevrey-Chambertin, it would cost double the price, but Xavier must trade on quality alone, so this represents terrific value for money for red Burgundy buyers especially given the soaring prices of Burgundy in the last decade.
