Domaine Gaston et Pierre Ravaut Ladoix Les Carrieres 2021 Cote de Beaune Burgundy

Vincent Ravaut is the sixth generation to look after this domaine which is situated on the fault line between Cote de Nuits to the north and Cote de Beaune to the south. Here Vincent, together with his son, Jules, produces both white and red wines of superb value. Pinot Noir is exceptional in its ability to communicate terroir, and the vines of Les Carrieres can be found planted on old quarries on the east-facing, northern slopes of the Corton hillside at 270m, with sub-soils of rich limestone and top-soils of cooler clay-marl. The resulting Ladoix wine, having been aged in French oak (15% of which was new oak) for 12 months, has what Ravaut calls the soul of the 2021 vintage, including aromas of strawberries and damp earth balanced by tension and minerality.
