At Mersel Wine, Eddie and Michelle Chami are very much keeping alive the ancient winemaking traditions of Lebanon (which was once home to the Phoenicians), including to have brought back to life some long-untended vineyards in the UNESCO World Heritage site and Mediterranean alpine region of Wadi Qannoubine. The white Merwah grapes in this wine spent a few weeks on their skins in stainless steel tanks as well as amphorae, giving the wine a gorgeous golden glow and a touch of tannic structure to balance the deliciously creamy notes of butter, alongside stone fruit, citrus, and a bit of nuttiness. Eminently quaffable, especially when paired with Mediterranean fare.
