J Bouchon Granito Semillon 2019 Maule Valley Chile

This wine has quickly become a poster boy for the new wave revival of southern Chile, far from the capital Santiago, where old bush vines and granite soils combine with the cooling influence of the Pacific to make wines of restraint and refreshment. This old-vine semillon is picked by hand and aged in a mixture of steel and oak, giving a crunchy profile of green apple, lemon zest and lime, alongside subtle savoury notes of chilli jam, candlewax and agave. The finish is precise and long, taut, but not austere.
