Lo Triolet Torrette 2020 Valle d'Aosta
Petit rouge anyone? We'd never heard of this grape variety until we tasted this wine, made in subalpine vineyards in the farthest reaches of northern Piemonte, before it turns to ski country, and turns into France. But the flavour is rich and distinctive with spiced plums, grainy tannins and surprisingly richness. If primitivo was grown in the cool, clean air of the mountains, it might taste like this.
