Antoniolo Gattinara Riserva 2018 Piedmont

A selection of the old-vine fruit from Osso San Grato, San Francesco and Le Castelle that doesn't go into the single vineyard bottlings, the Antoniolo Gattinara is a compelling, 100% nebbiolo riserva that spends three years in Slavonian botti grande and one year in bottle prior to release. Aromas of woodsmoke, incense and nutmeg open up the nose with bright raspberry and cherry fruit flecked with fennel underneath. Fresher than many Langhe wines from this hot, dry vintage, this is an unqualified triumph.
