Domaine Gaston et Pierre Ravaut Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru 2021 Cote de Beaune Burgundy
Vincent Ravaut is the sixth generation to look after this domaine which is situated on the fault line between Cote de Nuits to the north and Cote de Beaune to the south. Here Vincent, together with his son, Jules, produces both white and red wines of superb value.
Pinot Noir is exceptional in its ability to communicate terroir, and the vines of this Aloxe-Corton 1er Cru, from two parcels (Les Valozieres and Les Fournieres), can be found planted at the bottom of the hillside on reddish-brown soils of limestone and silex. The resulting wine, having been aged in French oak (15% of which was new oak) for 12 months, has what Ravaut calls a finesse with a sweetness of concentrated tannins.
