Benromach 15 Year Old Single Malt 43% Scotland Speyside

There's something wonderfully old fashioned, even nostalgic, about Benromach, a distillery which remains in independent hands, unlike so many of the big players. It may be the smallest distillery in Speyside but the whisky packs a Highland punch. We absolutely love the hit of fresh leather that opens the nose, followed by gorse and beeswax, with dried fruits, gentle peat-smoke and meaty savour following on the palate. If you're a fan of the somewhat curmudgeonly single malts that seem to deliver a flavour of scotch as it used to be (Glenfarclas and Springbank come to mind) then this is an excellent discovery.
