Alheit Lost and Found 2019 Breedekloof

This wine comes from South Africa's oldest living vineyard, planted in 1882-89. Here the ancient hanepoot (muscat of Alexandria) vines are like small trees, growing as gnarled and twisted bush vines out of the dense red clay at Gevonden farm. This is the last vintage made while the family owned the farm, which has now been sold to Daschbosch after six generations of ownership. This sensational wine is not only special because of its history, but because its hedonistic richness with off-the-charts concentration. Expect flavours of barley sugar, marmalade, triple sec, apricots and honey. Truly an icon of Cape wine that will live for many, many decades. Get it while you can.
