The Chateau des Rontets produces a small amount of gamay from the lieu dit of Cotes de Besset in the cru of St Amour, alongside its benchmark whites. From a west facing slope of volcanic sand, this is a bright, vivacious wine with tangy red fruits and a distinct note of petrichor and pepper, vinified after the principles of Jules Chauvet (for the nerds among you). Each buoyant mouthful is packed with life and joy.
