Since the 16th century the Bossard family have been cultivating vines in the village of Chapelle-Heulin some 18km South-East of Nantes in the heart of Muscadet Sevre et Maine. Since 2007 Jean Louis Bossard has taken the reins at the estate, cultivating some 40ha of vines planted on soils of schist, gneiss and granite in the foothills of the Massif Armoricain. According to Jean Louis, this terroir, ripe fruit and slow fermentations allow him to produce supple, characterful wines with distinct minerality.
