Originally from Champagne, Anne-Sophie trained in Burgundy before taking on a domaine in Fleurie, probably the most recognisable cru of the Beaujolais region. Farming is organic (not certified) and vinification is traditional, the grapes are destemmed and fermented with native yeasts, there is no pumping, elevage is in old oak, and the wines are neither fined nor filtered. From old vines, planted on granite soil these are wines of haunting fragrance and delicacy. Cocottes drinks beautifully straight away but will keep for 2-3 years, longer for the magnums, while Labourons is designed for further ageing before opening. The Alchimiste has a special mix of elegant, plush and immediate fruit with more of a Burgundian structure.
