Domaine Gaston et Pierre Ravaut Ladoix 1er Cru Le Bois Roussot 2021 Cote de Beaune Burgundy
Vincent Ravaut is the sixth generation to look after this domaine which is situated on the fault line between Cote de Nuits to the north and Cote de Beaune to the south. Here Vincent, together with his son, Jules, produces both white and red wines of superb value.
Pinot Noir is exceptional in its ability to communicate terroir, and the vines of Le Bois Roussot can be found planted on the gentle mid-slope, on clay-limestone soils, of the extension of the Corton grands crus. The resulting wine, having been aged in French oak (15% of which was new) for 12 months, has what Ravaut calls a freshness with aromatic notes of cardamom and cinnamon, and it would be a gorgeous pairing with either meat or fish.
